Quinta do Ameal, established in 1710, is a small, ancient property of rare natural beauty. Here, the winemakers craft exceptional white wines from the Portuguese grape variety Loureiro, which reaches its peak aromatic and flavour expression in the incredible Lima Valley region where we are located.
The wines are produced exclusively from organically grown grapes on our estate. This philosophy emphasises meticulous attention and energy on the vineyard, yielding high-quality grapes that produce unique “terroir” wines with great personality and character.
The grapes for this white are harvested manually and undergo pneumatic pressing while whole. The must is then cold-decanted for 24 hours before fermenting at a controlled temperature (10-15°C) for 12 to 15 days. The wine remains in contact with the lees for about three months in a stainless steel vat at a controlled temperature.
Bursting with exuberant aromas, this fresh and light wine features dominant notes of citrus fruits and tropical flavours. On the palate, it showcases a lively acidity, a good body, and a lingering finish.
Food pairing suggestion: A perfect picnic wine, or try with a Portuguese specialty – salted cod.
