Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz is a striking expression of cool-climate Shiraz from the Grampians region of Victoria, Australia. Known for its aromatic complexity, elegant structure, and vibrant fruit character, this wine showcases the distinctive terroir of Mount Langi Ghiran’s high-altitude vineyards. Cliff Edge Shiraz balances power and finesse, making it a refined yet approachable wine that reflects the estate’s dedication to crafting premium cool-climate Shiraz.

Mount Langi Ghiran is a revered winery with a rich history dating back to the 1870s, though its modern era began in the 1960s when it gained recognition for producing exceptional Shiraz. Situated at the base of the rugged Mount Langi Ghiran in the Grampians, the estate is renowned for its commitment to cool-climate viticulture and meticulous winemaking. Over the years, the winery has established a reputation for crafting wines that are both site-specific and expressive, with a particular focus on Shiraz, which thrives in the region’s unique conditions.

The vineyards are planted on ancient granite and sandy loam soils, which provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wine’s mineral-driven profile. The region’s cool climate, influenced by the surrounding mountain ranges, allows for a long, slow ripening period, resulting in Shiraz grapes with concentrated flavours, refined tannins, and natural acidity. This slow ripening also enhances the aromatic complexity of the wine. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes are fermented in small batches and aged in a mix of French oak barrels, adding depth and subtle spice.

This Shiraz greets the nose with vibrant aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and raspberry, interwoven with hints of black pepper, violet, and subtle eucalyptus. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with juicy dark fruit flavours, fine-grained tannins, and a fresh acidity that provides balance and lift. Layers of spice, cedar, and a touch of graphite add complexity, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering notes of dark fruit and a hint of savoury earthiness.
