Cà dei Maghi is a small estate in the hills of Valpolicella, known for producing limited quantities of exceptional wines. While the estate has been around since the 1950s, it was only after Paolo Creazzi took over in 2011 that it transformed from being merely ‘good’ to truly outstanding. Each year, Paolo aims to showcase the best of classical Valpolicella, while also indulging his passion for experimentation through a select range of IGT wines.
Every decision in the vineyard and winery is meticulously considered to achieve the finest quality, with no shortcuts or compromises. Paolo’s dedication is evident in the acclaim his wines have garnered from their first release. Cà dei Maghi is poised to become one of the esteemed names in Veneto winemaking. Given the small production sizes, especially for the Amarone and Ripasso, these wines are highly sought after and should not be missed.
This wine is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, and is produced using the ripasso method. The grape skins left over from the production of the estate Amarone are added to a young valpolicella to referment together. This produces a wine that you could describe as a baby amarone, with bright morello cherry, violet, vanilla and black tea flavours. This is a great option to accompany a good cheese board.
Food pairing suggestion: Lamb ragu.
