Guidalberto made its debut with the 2000 vintage, marking the arrival of the new millennium. The wine is named after Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor of the family and a visionary in Bolgheri’s agricultural development. The label features the Oratory of San Guido, a symbol of the estate’s deep-rooted history. In the early 19th century, Guidalberto played a key role in shaping the region, constructing the first factories and churches while also designing the Viale dei Cipressi. Initially intended to demarcate different agricultural plots, the double rows of tall cypress trees later gained recognition for their striking ornamental beauty.

This steadfast commitment to quality, innovation, and environmental stewardship continues to shape the estate’s distinguished heritage.
Guidalberto 2023: Vintage
Persistent rains during flowering and fruit set affected some inflorescences, resulting in lower grape density in the clusters and, as a result, reduced yields. However, the fruit set was still excellent, producing well-formed clusters of ideal size and good grape density.
The grape harvest began in the first week of September, starting with the younger Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines, followed by the older Merlot vineyards.
The extended period of favourable weather, with moderate temperatures and significant day-to-night temperature variation, allowed for a relaxed manual harvest during the cooler hours. This ensured the grapes reached the cellar at low temperatures, helping to preserve their aromatic qualities.
Guidalberto 2023: Winemaking
This refined Bordeaux-style blend is mainly made from Cabernet Sauvignon, with a smaller portion of Merlot. The grapes are meticulously sorted to ensure the highest quality, with each variety fermented separately and then aged in French oak barrels for 15 months before being blended.
Guidalberto 2023: In The Glass
With soft, plush tannins and rich dark berry fruits complemented by hints of chocolate and herbs, this Guidalberto is marked by finesse rather than intense power, offering delightful enjoyment over the next few years.
