Domaine Jones is a dynamic winery located in France’s Languedoc Roussillon wine region, owned and operated by Katie Jones. Previously, Katie served as the Sales and Marketing Director for the Mont Tauch co-operative in Languedoc for nearly two decades, whose wines we also offer. In 2007, Katie discovered a small 3.5-hectare vineyard in the Maury Valley and fell in love with it.
By 2008, Katie had left her job and purchased the vineyard, quickly becoming both a vineyard owner and a winemaker. The vineyard, situated in the shadow of Queribus Castle and surrounded by wild garrigue, comprises over 8,000 vines planted on black schist slopes with Carignan, Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris, and Muscat. Most of these vines are over 70 years old. The combination of vine age, altitude, and stony, slate soils results in naturally low-yielding vines, which enhances the quality of the grapes.
This wine originates from a picturesque plot of Carignan on a slope overlooking the village. Katie Jones, who has an abundance of Carignan, found herself with a surplus and chose to create something entirely unique: a very refreshing dry white wine bottled with a hint of effervescence. Katie says she feels like a magician when she creates white wines from red grapes, and it tastes like magic, too!
Food pairing suggestion: best as an aperitif.
