Matthew Jukes is possibly the most knowledgeable person on the planet when it comes to Australian wine – and he will be in Birmingham sharing top picks from the 100 Best Australian Wines Report.

Matthew Jukes has worked in the UK wine business for over thirty-five years. With experience in all sectors of the industry, he has published fourteen wine books and several highly respected annual reports, including the internationally renowned 100 Best Australian Wines Report. Matthew’s thoughts, recommendations, and tasting notes are followed very closely by the worldwide wine community!

He tastes 4,000 to 5,000 Australian wines every year, choosing the top 100. These range from great-value, everyday-style, bottles to exceptional fine wines. Only three wineries – Penfolds, Tyrrell’s, and Yalumba – have appeared in every Report, which shows consistent quality and continued innovation for these wineries.

Our event is one of the only four festivals in the UK.  The tasting comprises of around half of Matthew’s 100 favourite, great value and premium wines from all over Australia. This list showcases a diverse selection of Australian wines, ranging from sparkling to red, and including fortified options. The average RRP of wines being shown and tasted on the day is more than £30, and the selection includes wines from £7 to £125 a bottle!

Doors open at midday and you can spend three hours tasting around 50 of the top wines, chatting about the wines with Matthew and with the team of people who will be supporting him and generally enjoying the finest to come out of Australia. It’s a walk-around tasting, so you can sample the wines and ask questions from experts representing the wineries there on the day. Matthew will be mingling with guests and answering questions too!

We will be in the glittering Ballroom of The Grand Hotel in Birmingham – a fitting hall for this incredible event, especially when accompanied by some live music!
