Join us at Loki Knowle for our most popular event — Cheese and Wine Tasting! Discover new, intriguing pairings alongside classic duos in a fun and educational Saturday afternoon experience. Loki’s experts will guide you through seven carefully selected wines from their extensive collection, each thoughtfully paired with artisan cheeses from our favourite suppliers.

The wines featured in our tasting are exclusively chosen from Loki’s extensive and thoughtfully curated collection. Our team goes the extra mile — traveling near and far — to ensure only the finest bottles make it to our shelves, guaranteeing our customers an experience that’s both exceptional in quality and value.

At this event, we’ll be presenting seven distinctive wines, each meticulously selected to enhance the flavours of seven artisan cheeses. Over the course of two hours, your taste buds will be treated to a series of expertly paired wines and cheeses sourced from our most trusted suppliers. Led by our knowledgeable host, the tasting will explore the art of pairing, revealing why certain cheeses and wines create a perfect match, while debunking the myth that a single bottle of Port is all you need for a true cheese and wine experience.

Here are the cheese and wine pairings we tried during one of our previous events:

& + & CAVA with Ubriaco: the idea behind this match is for the high level of acidity in the Cava to refresh the palate after the dense, high fat texture of the Ubriacho.

Lehmann Semillon with Morbier: this pairing is all about texture. The Morbier is slightly waxy in texture and picks up on the waxy notes in the aged Semillon.

Dandelion Enchanted Garden Riesling with Tomme de Chevre: this pairing is centred on the high acid of the Riesling grape and the light, fluffy, but very high fat content of the cheese. The acid simply refreshed the palate by cutting through the mouth-coating fat from the cheese.

Huet 2018 Le Haut Lieu with Rapeneer Mature Gouda: the pairing is based around the contrast of salty and sweet. The Rapeneer has a slightly caramel note to it, but is also salty and so the pairing mirrors salted caramel.

Talo Malvasia Nera with Truffle Pecorino: this match is based around the ‘Flavour Turbo Principle’. – saltiness of the cheese increases perception of fruitiness in the wine.

Donnafugata Sherazade with Garstang Blue: this match is about matching texture where the Garstang is mild, and crucially for this match, creamy.

Portal Moscatel with Stitchleton: Stichleton is a re-vamp of the original recipe for what is now called Stilton. Mocatel is sweet and fortified and is a twist on the port and stilton pairing.

Enjoy a gourmet afternoon that’s all about delighting the senses and expanding your taste horizons!
