The company’s mission is to lead the “good wine industry” by fostering an ecosystem grounded in organic and biodynamic agriculture, sustainable distribution practices, and consumer education. They prioritise transparency and innovation, guided by a long-term vision.
The Ancient Greeks encapsulated a concept akin to our approach to the wine industry with the term *kalòs kagathòs*, meaning “the beautiful and the good.” This idea represents an indivisible unity of beauty and virtue, suggesting that true excellence encompasses both aesthetic appeal and ethical conduct. According to this ancient philosophy, to be “beautiful” (kalòs) one must also “behave well” (kagathòs). This timeless concept reflects Avignonesi’s ethos today: their commitment to producing exceptional Nobile wines is matched by their dedication to acting with integrity and nobility in all aspects of their work.
Vino Nobile is from Sangiovese grapes, showcasing the balanced and harmonious characteristics of its terroir. It features a sleek, medium body with smooth, integrated tannins and a distinctive flavour profile. While excellent for immediate enjoyment, it also boasts impressive ageing potential. The sediments present in this wine are a testament to its pure Sangiovese origins and minimal intervention in its production. These deposits are attributed to the high levels of a natural antioxidant called quercetin, which is completely safe. Rather than being a flaw, these sediments are a distinctive characteristic of the authentic, pure Sangiovese.
On the nose, this wine offers enticing aromas of red berries, cherry, and pomegranate, complemented by the signature violet notes of Sangiovese. Subtle hints of vanilla and Mediterranean herbs add complexity. On the palate, it is well-balanced, with ripe cherry and plum flavours reappearing, supported by a robust tannic structure. The body is warm, ethereal, and enveloping, culminating in a long, persistent finish.
Food pairing suggestion: Beef bolognese.
